The 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Donggala, Central Sulawesi, which was followed by a tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on September 28, 2018, has destroyed the Tatura Mall.
The mall is the largest shopping center in Palu. As one of the tenants in the mall, PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa Tbk (RALS) also felt the impact.
Setyadi Surya, Corporate Secretary of RALS, said that the Ramayana Department Store at Tatura Mall is the only Ramayana outlet in the Palu area.
As a result of this natural disaster, the loss experienced by Ramayana Department Store is estimated at Rp 50 billion. "The estimated loss that we experienced reached Rp. 50 billion.
But for now, we prioritize the safety of the employees at the Ramayana Palu. Thankfully, all 216 employees survived.
There are only three employees who have been injured, but they have been handled well, "he said in a written statement on Tuesday (10/02/2018). Shortly after the disaster occurred, management of the Ramayana head office sought emergency response measures. Management coordinates directly with employees in Palu, especially to find out the situation and conditions at that time.
"We immediately contacted the store in Palu to make sure all employees were safe. We also send assistance to all employees and their families.
The conditions there are still vulnerable to earthquakes. The environment is not conducive to the issue of looting which is widely reported, "he said.
